High Accuracy Head Pose Tracking Survey

چکیده
Head pose estimation is recently a more and more popular area of research. For the last three decades new approaches have constantly been developed, and steadily better accuracy was achieved. Unsurprisingly, a very broad range of methods was explored statistical, geometrical and tracking-based to name a few. This paper presents a brief summary of the evolution of head pose estimation and a glimpse at the current state-of-the-art in this eld.

Comparative Study of Coarse Head Pose Estimation
For many practical applications, it is sufficient to estimate coarse head to infer gaze direction. Indeed for any application in which the camera is situated unobtrusively in an overhead corner, the only possible inference is coarse pose because of the limitations of the quality and resolution of the incoming data. However, the vast majority of research in head pose estimation deals with tracki...
متن کاملAnalysis of Head Pose Accuracy in Augmented Reality
ÐA method is developed to analyze the accuracy of the relative head-to-object position and orientation (pose) in augmented reality systems with head-mounted displays. From probabilistic estimates of the errors in optical tracking sensors, the uncertainty in head-to-object pose can be computed in the form of a covariance matrix. The positional uncertainty can be visualized as a 3D ellipsoid. One...
متن کاملSimple, robust and accurate head-pose tracking using a single camera
This paper describes an inexpensive, robust method for tracking the head position and orientation of the user by using a single low-cost USB camera and infrared light emitting diodes concealed within spectacle frames worn by the user. Unlike gaze and head-pose tracking systems which rely on high-resolution stereo cameras and complex image processing hardware and software to find and track facia...
متن کاملModel-Free Head Pose Estimation Based on Shape Factorisation and Particle Filtering
Head pose estimation is essential for several applications and is particularly required for head pose-free eye-gaze tracking where estimation of head rotation permits free head movement during tracking. While the literature is broad, the accuracy of recent vision-based head pose estimation methods is contingent upon the availability of training data or accurate initialisation and tracking of sp...
متن کامل'Owl' and 'Lizard': patterns of head pose and eye pose in driver gaze classification
Accurate, robust, inexpensive gaze tracking in the car can help keep a driver safe by facilitating the more effective study of how to improve (1) vehicle interfaces and (2) the design of future Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. In this paper, we estimate head pose and eye pose from monocular video using methods developed extensively in prior work and ask two new interesting questions. First, ...
